Meet Lavender

Lavender is ready for her forever home!!

Lavender was surrendered after she developed glaucoma very suddenly. She was used as a breeder, and they did not want to continue care. She was scheduled for euthanasia, so our vet called us to intervene!

Lavender was non-visual when she arrived. She was going to need eye drops twice a day for the rest of her life. While we waited to complete her vaccine, we watched as her once confident aura turned fearful due to the medication.

She was totally blind and becoming traumatized by the eye drops. The long term prognosis was a double enucleation, a surgery to remove both eyes.

We decided to remove both of her eyes now to prevent further trauma and eliminate the financial burden on an adopter in the future.

Since her enucleations, she has become the condiment bunny that she was meant to be!

She easily explores new areas, and strangers never know she's blind! It took her 5 minutes to memorize the exam room at the vet and start her binkies!

Lavender is super sweet and enjoys attention. She is a large bunny and needs lots of space to explore! We recommend a double pen or 32sq ft as a minimum.

Freeroaming may be considered, but she likes to jump on things and then can't get down. She also tends to get stuck under things because she can't see what she is doing. She is very curious, but she can get herself into trouble when left unsupervised!

Lavender is around 15lbs and may grow to be a few more pounds.

Although we are not labeling Lavender as "special needs," she does need an extra patient adopter to give her the time and patience she needs to acquaint herself with a new area.

Lavender is about 1 year old. She has been spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.

*An application, vet reference, and home check is required prior to adoption

**Cages and hutches are not suitable housing for bunnies and will not be approved as housing unless one or more doors are permanently removed
