Barrie Rabbit Rex & American Mix Oak Park, IL

Meet Barrie! This wonderful rex rabbit has gone through a lot prior to her arrival with us. She was found injured in a local park where she was abandoned by her previous owners. A good samaritan thankfully brought her to us because it looked as though she had been attacked and needed immediate help. Her front leg was broken and bleeding, her ears were full of mites, her back feet had large sores and she was weary from living outdoors for the summer. Despite her horrible condition, she immediately wanted to eat and explore her new living space at the shelter. She rested, got her ears clear and shortly after, she was ready for her leg amputation. She did wonderfully with her surgery and healed beautifully. The next step was to get her spayed where we found that she had been pregnant at some point in her short life. Her back feet have continued to heal and is now finally a healthy rabbit. She truly has been through so much and is now ready for a relaxing and fun life!

Barrie is a medium-large sized rabbit at about 6 pounds and she gets around great despite not having one of her front foot. She loves to lounge, eat and explore! She is a survivor and has come so far already with us - she used to have her guard up but now comes to humans for pets and is curious about making friends with other rabbits. She would love a quiet and low-stress home where she can free roam and explore part of the time. She gets nervous around other non-rabbit animals so she may need a home without dogs or cats. She has great potential to be a wonderful parter to a male rabbit and she is available for speed dating! Her adoption fee includes RHDV2 vaccination, spay surgery and microchip.
