Pepper Chihuahua & Dachshund Mix Cincinnati, OH

Pepper is believed to be a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix around 2+ years old who joined HART after being part of a 150+ dog hoarding situation in Tennessee. She came to us very scared, shy and with some skin issues- all very common for dogs from hoarding situations. She has had vet care with treatment for her issues, spay appointment in early August planned. She is residing in a crate/ pen indoors and uses pee pads as needed. Goes outdoors on schedule to relieve herself. She loves attention and would do best with a family who is not absent for long periods. Barks at newcomers with tail wagging, greets foster mom with finger and toe licking, leaping happily with tail wagging.

Pepper is being fostered with another dog from her situation, (Trudi) she plays and sleeps with that same size pup and could be in a home with other pets as she initiates play and romps with her foster sister (Trudi). She will need time to warm up and show her true personality. She has observed a neighbor’s cat from her outdoor pen and did not react. She has become familiar with watching Angus cattle in the pasture just beyond her outdoor pen. She wears a harness and is working on leash training. Pepper does have some food aggression related to her history with multiple hoarded dogs so she'll need to be fed separately from other dogs.
