Meet Yips

Chihuahua - Long Haired | Male| 12 years old | 6 lbs | Adoption Fee $200

Requirements: no small children in the home (requires children old enough to know not to pick him up)

If you are looking for a low maintenance pup who is a unique mix of low activity and adventure, then keep on reading! Yips here is a chihuahua who was found as a stray in Chicago. We do not know how long he was a stray; however, we do know that he is very independent, will not turn down any type of food (despite only having a couple teeth), and is very agile for his age.

Yips’ favorite activities include playing fetch, eating food, roaming around outside, going for walks, and sleeping in cozy places. He is low maintenance in that he sleeps most of the day and isn’t very needy. At the same time, he will never turn down the chance to go for a car ride or a walk. He is up for the level of adventure that you choose (within reason, of course).

He is crate trained and loves to sleep in his fluffy bed inside his crate. He uses potty pads as long as they are placed correctly, and we are working on using the pads less and less. He also wears a belly band just fine for those times without potty pads.

Yips is cautious of strangers but proves himself extremely sweet and affectionate once he is comfortable. He loves to roll over for belly rubs and climbs into laps for attention, when he is not off doing his own thing. Yips can be sensitive with handling, and although he allows himself to be picked up, he highly prefers vocal commands and communication. For this reason, he would do best living in a home without small children.

While Yips lives with other dogs, he is most comfortable with dogs closer to his own size and dogs that completely ignore him. He should not go to a home with a larger dog looking for a new playmate. He does not live with cats, but I do not foresee any issues as he is very cat-like himself.

If Yips sounds like the addition you’ve been looking for, then apply today to meet him!
