Meet Max

Max is a 40 lb machine of love and energy. He is a unique mix of basset hound (low to the ground and big, turned-out front feet) and a pug mix. He has just THE CUTEST FACE! He has short, sleek, black hair and was 2 years old in May.

This guy bonded very quickly to us – and our dogs. He LOVES to be close to people and enjoys spending the entire evening right next to me on the couch. He can while away an afternoon underneath my sewing machine table and is very content just to be near people.

Max sleeps in his kennel all night and also stays in there when we're away. He goes in his kennel very nicely with the command 'Kennel' and a tiny treat. He walks nicely on a leash but does not know 'Heel'.

He definitely knows his name, and he knows 'Sit', which is pretty funny because he tucks his hind end around to the side! Although he does not get people food, Max definitely know his way around the kitchen and is anxious to 'help' during meal prep!

Max has been in a couple of outdoor social situations and has done very well. He barks only when he's super excited. He LOVES Nyla bones, and I would definitely recommend having several for him. He has not chewed anything he shouldn't. Max is house trained for the most part; we've had a couple of
accidents in the house, but we're working on helping him to get outside at the right times.

Max would be fine in a home as an 'only' dog, but he definitely enjoys the company of other dogs. He knows all about wrestling and chase. We were told he had issues with guarding toys and food, but we've not seen that behavior here. Plenty of toys to go around!

We recommend Max go to a home with Elementary school children or older, he does not do well with toddler aged kids or anything under 4 really.

Max’s adoption fee is $250, and adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad City Area.

For more information about Max, email kristina@k9kindnessrescue.org or fill out the online adoption at www.k9kindnessrescue.org.

Max and K9 Kindness Rescue thank you for considering adoption through rescue for your new family companion!
