Meet Shadow

Shadow is an 11 year-old chihuahua/schipperke mix.
Here is what his surrendering owner wants you to know about this adorable little fellow:

"What can I say about Shadow in a short bio? I’ve had him since he was just 4 months old, I adopted him from a pet store (I know, I know, but he was there so long and in horrible conditions) and he has been with me ever since that day. He got his name from actually being my little shadow, wherever I went, he was there right behind me. Shadow is a very laid back and loving kind of dog, he wants nothing more than to lay next to someone while they do their work (he won’t say no to a few pets though). He has always been very relaxed and not very active, he won’t even play with toys. He isn’t a mean dog and has never bitten anyone in his little life. He isn’t picky with food and will often carry his food away from the bowl to eat it. He loves to climb up onto your shoulders and perch up, much like a cat or bird might :) He has been my support animal since I got him for my anxiety, depression and PTSD so he is very well behaved, especially in public and is able to easily pick up on things when something is wrong with the people in his life. He is the best dog I’ve ever had and best dog I’ve ever met. Anyone, legit anyone, would be lucky to have him in their life and see and feel all the love he has to give to those around him. He gets along with everyone and everything, he might be a bit scared and have some anxiety at first but give him time and he’ll be the best friend you could ask for.

PS. Sometimes when you’re petting him, he’ll press his head against a part of your body (usually your legs or lap overall), this is 100% normal for him and is from his time as my support animal, pressure helps ground me during anxiety attacks and that is why he does this."

Shadow doesn't need a lot of exercise beyond a nice little walk (~30 min), and some outside time to do his business, and stretch his legs. He enjoys cuddling, sleeping (particularly in small space/in boxes/on top of a desk if his person is around), and did I mention cuddling his people?. His owner says he will bark when someone comes to the door, but it is easy to get him to stop by simply telling him to stop and quiet down.

PUPDATE: Shadows owner shared with his foster that Shadow used to work with them in nursing homes, where he is a natural in crowds. They also shared (and Shadow's foster concurs) that Shadow does not like to be left home alone (he barks and frets). His foster shared that "on the other hand he is a real pro in the car", and says "he is a real gem", and "someone is going to get really lucky!"
