Meet Duncan

Meet Duncan

Duncan is a super sweet Golden/Lab mix. He gets along great with his two foster family dogs and wants to be with you all the time. He will follow you from room to room. He has a flat glossy coat that is wavy on his back and it almost looks like he has a perm.

Age: 3, estimated DOB March 2017

Weight: 67 lbs

Health: Duncan tested positive for Heartworm earlier this year and has undergone the three spinal injections needed to kill the heartworms. He will require testing again in late Oct or early Nov to ensure the treatment was effective. Otherwise, he is a healthy, happy, energetic boy.

Personality: He has a super personality and will end up melting some family’s heart.

Favorite Toys/Games: He loves to play fetch with a tennis ball, however not when another dog is playing as he is quicker and will not share, no aggression. He brings the ball back to you (although not all the time) and will allow you to take it from his mouth or lay it at your feet.

Interaction with other dogs: Duncan gets along with his foster siblings and would love to have another dog play with him.

Interaction with cats: Unknown. However, his foster family believes he would not be good with cats or small animals. He would definitely chase and if even it was just to play, he could be too rough with them. He loves his senior foster brother and they play together, but Duncan can easily knock him down when he jumps on him. Duncan is strong and sometimes does not realize his on strength.

Interaction with children: Duncan has met and been around children, ages 5-13, and all interactions have been positive. He has not shown any aggression or “mouthy behavior”. He has only been with kids for short periods at church. His foster family does not have children in their home. We are sure that he would adjust to a family with kids readily. He would certainly enjoy children who understand and love dogs and can play with him.

Behavior in Car: Calm. Most of the time you don’t even know he is with you.

People Interactions – home requirements:. Duncan is used to a home with a flexible schedule, and is fine with friends, family, and other visitors. His people are currently home more often than not, and he and his fur siblings rarely are alone for more than 4 hours w/o a potty – exercise break.

Housetrained? Duncan is reliable in his foster home.

Training, Food and Treats: Duncan is definitely food motivated. He is not aggressive, just eager to eat.

Exercise Requirements: On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being very energetic and with the highest exercise requirements. Duncan is a 4 to 5 and loves racing around his yard. Duncan needs a family who can give him more exercise than his foster family currently is able to provide. He walks very well on a leash and knows to sit while you connect or remove the leash.

Fence requirements: Duncan’s foster home has a physical fence, and he would enjoy having one in his forever home. It doesn’t have to be huge, just large enough for some ball play. His current backyard includes a 4 ft fence and is approximately 80 x 110 feet.
