Meet John

Hey, I’m John! I'm a three-year old, 30 lb ball of love who is desperate for a human of my own.

I LOVE people. It's not even funny how much I will ham it up on walks and when we go to stores to get those pets. On leash, I'm quite the gentleman. I'm interested in other dogs, but don't bark or pull too much in their direction. Mainly I like to stick to my human's side and smile up at strangers for pets.

I'm also always up for an adventure. Car rides are very exciting for me, and I have already learned the "up" command to get in the car. My foster mom alternates between buckling me in or letting me ride in a crate, and honestly I'm good either way.

As far as destinations go, I really enjoy wading through creeks, hiking up and down hills, and rolling in soft, green grass. I also like trips to pet stores, am a pro at Lowes, and have enjoyed the occasional trips to work with my foster mom.

Even though I'm a heeler (and thus always up for adventure), I also know how to chill. My foster mom says I'm a great work companion because I will just lay next to her quietly playing with toys until she's ready to move. I've also been learning the joys of cuddles and really enjoy nuzzling my foster parents like a cat as I walk by.

My foster mom is pretty sure I had never been in a house before I met her. I have zero destructive tendencies, but am still working on mastering potty training. I've gotten to the point now where I usually remember to take myself outside the doggie door when I need to go. I usually only forget if I'm having a blast playing or if I get nervous. It's okay though - I'm smart and I'll get there soon.

Speaking of smarts, I know sit, down, and stay. I also have mastered loose leash walking and my foster mom plans to teach me "leave it" and "go to your spot" next.

I'd do best in a home with no cats (I like to chase) and only female dogs. Other males and I just don't get along that well. I really hope you might be new home!

Thanks for considering a dog from Texas Cattle Dog Rescue! We place heelers all over the state of Texas.
