Luna Lovegood Labrador Retriever & Standard Poodle Mix Palatine, IL

Luna Lovegood is a compelling character in the Harry Potter series: unique, loyal, brave, optimistic, and quirky. SCCR’s Luna, an 8-month-old Labrador/Poodle mix, exhibits many of those same qualities.

Luna was purchased as a puppy for the intent of being a therapy dog, but has been kept in a kennel for training the majority of her life. She hasn’t yet had the opportunity to live in a family or house, or to become the beloved pet she deserves to be.

This adorable brown pup is full of life, love, and mischief. Everything is a toy for Luna, and she loves to play chase, tug-of-war, or any type of game with the other dogs in her foster home.

Luna is housebroken, good on leash, and enjoys her car rides. She knows several commands and is eager to learn more. Like any puppy, she can be mouthy, and is learning what is appropriate for chewing. Her 35-pound body is bursting with exuberance, having finally been let out of that kennel.

What "must have" items are on Luna Lovegood's list for the perfect family? An adult who is frequently home, a fenced yard, another playful dog, and a whole lotta love.

Like her Harry Potter character namesake, Luna will blossom once she is embraced for who she is. With patient and consistent training, this energetic puppy will grow into a loyal and brave family pet.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must send an application or email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along :-)

However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.
