Name: Robert “Bob” Barker
Breed: Cockapoo
Age: 3
Weight: 18 pounds, shaggy. Likely a little less after a haircut.

Robert’s Story: Robert had a rough start to life, but he has made incredible strides and is eager to show his loving, fluffball self to his new home. Prior to arriving at Pet Haven, he was neglected and kept kenneled for the vast majority of the day. His fear will manifest itself in loud barking and being overly protective of his people. The good news is that he is very responsive to corrections and will relax once he trusts that you are his friend! He runs to the door to meet you when you get home, lies with you on the couch or at your feet, and is extremely happy to just be in the room you are in. Robert struggles meeting new people, yet you will never find a more adorable and affectionate house dog. He loves walks and is very obedient to small food treats.

Good with kids: Since Robert prefers a quieter atmosphere, children can be a challenge for him. Once he has been slowly introduced to new people he is extremely loving and mild mannered, however children tend to be more unpredictable and we think he’d thrive best in a home without kids.

Good with dogs: Yes! Robert enjoys the company of the resident dog very much, and has responded very well to most other dogs of a similar size to him as well. Robert is slightly submissive to more energetic, larger dogs, and generally plays well and enjoys the company of other canine buddies.

Good with cats: Unknown. Would most likely do well with a laid-back cat.

Hobbies: Robert is a snuggly, affectionate dog that loves socks, hot dogs, and goofing around with the resident dog. He generally loves to hang out with people he’s comfortable with and chew on toys or balls. Robert loves to go on walks, and he absolutely loves car rides and long naps. He enjoys baths and long blow dry sessions, is a world-class snuggler and lap dog.

Commands/Tricks: Robert is exceptionally intelligent. He sits on command consistently, knows “down”, “stay”, and how to follow his person. He has an uncanny ability to understand you when you speak to him, and generally follows those more complex directions by reading body language and takes great pride in being a good boy!

More fun stuff about Robert: This dog is really the ultimate companion dog. He adores his person, and lives to please. He is extraordinarily loving, and is perfectly content in a low or medium energy environment. His shaggy white fur almost never sheds. His tail is generally wagging strong, and his face looks at you likes he’s smiling. This dog is SMART, and is very adorable. He makes you feel like you are coming home to your best friend.

Crate trained: Yes, Robert knows how to “kennel up!” with the best of them. He does very well patiently waiting in his kennel for your return, and he is extremely excited to see you when you get home. He is very comfortable in his kennel as his safe space, and has not had an accident or major issue with his crate while in his foster home.

Potty Trained: Yes, Robert arrives fully house trained, and has no issues in this area.

Activity level: Robert is low to medium level energy. He is content lying around the house, but he also enjoys a good walk or even a short jog around the yard. He actively plays with the resident dog all day, but does not initiate as much as the resident troublemaker. He will tug on his leash when excited, but will settle down with a leash correction.

Who Robert currently lives with: Robert has settled in quickly with his foster mom and dad, and younger very excitable/playful resident dog. He is attached to both of his fosters parents, following them around from room to room and napping in their proximity whenever possible. Robert and the resident dog are great pals and spend the majority of their days playing and wrestling (initiated by resident dog, tolerated and somewhat sought out by Robert). Robert’s foster parents don’t have an excessive number of visitors and no children, so other than the rambunctious resident dog, his foster home is pretty low energy.

Robert’s ideal family: Robert is looking for a calm or medium-energy home that can continue to help him feel safe in the world through predictable routines. Robert really needs a new owner that is experienced with dogs and will provide boundaries, house rules, and direction. Robert’s foster family will share “tips and tricks” that have helped Robert immensely to settle into his new home. It would be ideal if Robert’s adopter has a fully fenced yard, another dog, and be kid-free. Robert’s new owner MUST be willing to provide consistent, firm support and leadership! In return, they’ll receive a super- loveable companion. If you are willing to work with Robert, you’re guaranteed many years of fun and companionship!

Robert will be attending Pet Haven's adoption events. His adoption fee is $320 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.
Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
