Slater--Dog and Kid Friendly Little Guy Rat Terrier & Toy Fox Terrier Mix Chicago, IL

Have your kids been begging you for a pooch this holiday season? Well then look no further as Slater is the perfect family dog! Slater is about 1.5 years old, and looks like a Toy Fox Terrier or Rat Terrier mix. He's fully grown at about 10 lbs -- perfect size for apartment and condo dwellers! Slater has been doing wonderfully in his foster home that he shares with a 5 and 6 year old. He loves kids (and big humans too). He walks great on a leash, and since he's a little guy, doesn't need particularly long walks. He is fine when meeting other dogs on the street. Slater is a total snuggler and loves a warm lap to curl up on.

Slater is highly trainable & quite smart -- his foster family has already taught him to come when they whistle, and how to play fetch with a mini tennis ball. He came to his foster family completely un-housebroken, but in just over 1 week he is down to just the occasional accident so we're confident that with a little more reinforcement he will have all his potty business down!

When left home alone, he naps in his crate and he sleeps in his crate at night too, although he would certainly love to get to sleep with his humans if given the chance! While Slater can tolerate being left alone here and there, he will sometimes whine, so this friendly and social guy would be happiest with regular daytime interaction.

Added bonus to this already amazing pooch? No visible shedding and the softest coat you can imagine! He's nice to strangers and just an all-around awesome little dude. Slater is now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested. His adoption fee is $300 and as of 12/2 he'll be a resident of our Adoption Center.
