Sophie Jack Russell Terrier Conyers, GA

Hello, everybody! How are you?! How’s life?! What’s going on?! Am I excited?! Of course, I am! I’m a 10-month-old Jack Russell puppy! Everything is new(!), exciting(!), overwhelming(!) … well, you get the gist.

I was purchased from a breeder by a mature couple, who very much loved me. Unfortunately, my mother got very sick, and my father had to focus on taking care of her. I’m a bit high-maintenance (as all puppies are, especially Terriers), so they gave me to their daughter’s family, hoping I would fit in. Unfortunately, again … they already had a couple of older dogs who weren’t “thrilled” with my puppy energy and needs. Their parents also worked full-time and knew I needed a lot of guidance and TLC, so they made the decision to surrender me to the rescue.

I have been here for a couple of months, have met a lot of new people at Spring Vol Day and JRT Fun Day, and have learned a lot of new things. That said, I still need to learn a lot more new things … like how to get along with other dogs. I’m working on that and getting better everyday, though. I just like to be the boss.

So … with all that said … as adorable as I am, I am not a puppy for the first-time Jack Russell parent. I am exploding with energy and excitement and I need a lot of focus, guidance and positive reinforcement and outlets for this energy. I probably wouldn’t be good with kids as I’m very much a baby myself and need to learn some manners around other dogs, much less little two-legged ones.

But one thing is for sure — I am one smart girl! I sit beautifully, am treat-motivated, and love to learn new things. This whole ball and agility thing has been awesome for me. I just participated in my first for-fun races and lure chases and I aced them both! With the right parent(s), I am going to be a rock star!
