Bella Rat Terrier & Schnauzer Mix Franklin, MA

Hi! My name is Bella. I am estimated to be 1 year old and weigh about 10 lbs. The best word to describe me is energetic! Once upon a time I had a home and a family but my family fell on hard times and we ended up homeless. My people found a shelter where they could stay but unfortunately the shelter could not take in a little dog. When I first got to my foster home, I was very scared and distrustful. I would snarl at my foster mom whenever she came near my crate. It has only been a few days and already I have calmed down quite a bit. I had forgotten my housetraining but now it is all coming back. I am doing my business outside. Because I have had to spend a lot of time in the crate, I am a little bundle of energy.
I would love to go for a walk but need some work with my leash manners. I am so excited to be outside that I do a lot of pulling. My diet was not so good. I got used to eating junk food so I am turning up my nose when healthy food is offered.
I am seeing the vet tomorrow and will get brought up to date on my shots and will be spayed. After that, I would really like a home of my own. If I could find a quiet home with someone who has lots of time and attention to give me, I would be one happy, little gal. My former family included a child and reported that I like other dogs. Because being homeless and losing my family was traumatic, I need someone who can be patient and give me time to learn to trust. I may act ferocious when I first meet someone but that is only because I am tiny and need to protect myself. If you believe that good things come in small packages, please come and meet me. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
