Rusty - Adoption Pending - Congrats Minney Family Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix Hewitt, NJ

UPDATE FROM FOSTER 10/17: 'Rusty is just the sweetest pup you can hope to find. He is friendly and happy and loves his people, but he is not jumpy or aggressive in any way. Rusty gets along well with dogs of all ages and sizes and he really loves playing with them. He is great with kids and is overall quite gentle. He is fully house-trained and is easy to train. He has already learned not to nip when he plays. Based on his teeth, we think he is about a year old, so he's quite young, but so mellow for his age! Rusty appears to have no food aggression and is not at all growly. He is truly one happy guy who will make a wonderful addition to any family!'



Buddy and 10 of his relatives found themselves surrendered to a high kill shelter in Georgia. TLR was able to save 4 of them. Our best guess is Rusty is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. He has a lab shaped headand pit bull style ears with the coloring of a Chesapeake Bay. But whatever he is, adorable and sweet.Rusty is approximately 4-5 years old and is only 27 lbs. Rusty is a pretty mellow dude. He doesn’t require a ton of exercise but still enjoys toys and playtime. He is dog friendly and house trained.

Rusty has been in his foster home in NJ for one week now and here’s what his foster Mom says about him: “Very sweet, great with dogs, fully trained, a gentleman. Tends to get confused when the kids are playing and tries to join in and nips so either no young kids or someone willing to work on training him. he's receptive to it and clearly means no harm. He's generally very gentle.”

Rusty has been neutered and vaccinated and is a healthy boy.
