Update 10/6: Teddy was returned to Animal Control today. His owner said that Teddy was as sweet as he could be but scared of her children. He’s also heartworm positive. He’s now house trained but did have some accidents at night. When I took Teddy to an interaction pen, he was great on a leash. Gone are the days when I had to carry him. The first thing he did when we reached the interaction pen, was give me a hug. I guess he was happy to see a familiar face. He enjoyed staying with me, sitting for treats, and meeting other dogs at the fence. I adore Teddy, but I’d rather he had his own special person to love.

Since Teddy is heartworm positive, he can’t be neutered until he’s been treated for heartworms, so he’s only available to rescue. He’s up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. I hope that Teddy gets a second chance. He’s such a gentle dog and will be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, calm boy who wants to be loved.

9/17: Teddy is overwhelmed to be here. We had to coax him gently out of his pen, and he was too afraid to walk on a leash so a volunteer carried him to the interaction pen. After a time in the interaction pen, he started to warm up and move around and be petted. He is used to being around other dogs. Come meet him. I think in a couple of days he will be running around and playing. Teddy needs some gentle care and affection. Come give that to him!!
