Duke Pit Bull Terrier & Terrier Mix Gloucester, MA

Are you looking for a dog that simply enjoys life from the moment he wakes up in the morning to the moment he goes to bed? One that wants to be by your side-have his eye on you when you are there-but not need to stick to you like glue? A dog that listens, is respectful of the furniture, goes to bed when asked, loves the car, loves walks , loves the water(especially when it is really hot outside), loves outings in the woods, loves cuddling...well as said simply Loves life.

Well, meet Duke, a 3-4 year old 60 lb pittie mix. Duke has been very patiently waiting for you. He has been at an animal shelter since November ,and because of being confined for such a long period of time was becoming very anxious. The shelter realized Duke needed a foster home so his true personality would come through. They were right! Ever since Duke arrived at his foster home he has been nothing but relaxed and have we said happy, happy, happy??!!!! He is living with a female pit bull and they are both respectful of the other's space, but when it is play time, they play, play, play.

Duke’s history is not fully known, however he was left chained outside for very long periods at a time. Being the resilient pup that he is, that is all behind him, and he has evolved into the happy go lucky pup he is. A lingering effect of this sad history is that initially Duke does not like to have strangers lean over him and touch his neck. Give him a day with you so he sees you aren’t out to tie him up again, and Duke is all wiggles when the leash comes out; he knows that only means good things. Because of his dislike of strangers around his neck, Duke would probably be best in a home where there are no small children who just want to hug him.

Duke loves to learn and responds really well to positive reinforcement training. Duke is a true gentleman. He has manners …which is hard to come by these days!!! He is crate trained, house trained and a simply a good dog. He loves to play, loves to play fetch….tennis balls are his favorite. He’s waiting for your call!!
