Meet Coach

My name is Coach but truth be told I could use a coach, I am a two year old, astoundingly handsome, 60 lb lab mix. To be totally up front with you, I am not your typical lab. If you are expecting a quiet, laid-back kind of guy, you are barking up the wrong tree. I love life and am described by my foster mom as "exuberant." I am just a big kid and like most kids I need a mom and dad who can help me keep myself in check and set limits. Because I am big and oh so playful, I would do best with older human siblings (12 or older). I could accidentally knock smaller children down. I would never want to hurt anyone but sometimes I just forget how big I am.

I love treats and I take them very gently. When I am playing with toys though, I hang on tight. I need some work on releasing toys. I am smart and can "Sit" and "Stay". Like any kid though, I sometimes get distracted or don't listen.

I need a patient family who is committed to working with me and helping me to gain better control over my impulses. I will need lots of exercise (jogs, running in the yard, hikes, etc) and continued training to be the best dog I can be. I am still a puppy. I have lots to learn. Won't you teach me?

I am housebroken, up to date on my vaccines, microchipped, neutered and have tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease.

If you are looking for a dog that is full of life and ready to take on new adventures, I would love to meet you. Use this link to find more pictures of me.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
