Freddie Mercury Basset Hound Worcester, MA

Freddie is a happy, 4 year old Basset Hound available for adoption! He is great with dogs and cats, and has been absolutely wonderful with his foster family. He loves going for walks and hanging out with everyone in the house.

Freddie is a bit anxious, but that doesn’t stop him from being a loving dog! He is very submissive with humans and other animals, which makes him an easy house mate.

We are fortunate to have a very thorough history of Freddie's past. Veterinary records show that he had bitten his former owners. After recent veterinarian review of past records and current behavioral evaluation, Freddie's bite history was brought on by anxiety caused by a stressful and negative home environment. Quite frankly, the documentation by the vet (which was then confirmed by the former owner) tells us that Freddie was quite literally pushed around. With a great new home and an emphasis on positively reinforced training, Freddie will continue to be the amazing dog he has shown to be in his foster home. We think because of Freddie's past history, he would do best in a home without children, as that may cause Freddie anxiety!

Freddie's foster home sees daily improvements in him. Specifically, since he has gotten out of his negative and unsafe home, his body language has loosened, he is showing less anxious tendencies, has become a total cuddlebug and craves positive reinforcement.

Freddie is a GREAT dog and with a positive environment, he will be a great pal for his lucky owners.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
