Meet Hansel (Buddy)

Hansel was found as a stray out in the county. He was running with a small group of dogs but did not seem to have a home. He was brought to the shelter but quickly moved to foster care because of his nice personality. He is now in an experienced foster home who has other dogs of all sizes. He is doing fine with everyone! His foster family calls him Buddy. He has a few bathroom accidents, but is working hard on potty training. He is crated during the day when his foster family is at work and shows no problems. He barks to alert his family of something different or a stranger, but is not yappy. He gets to sleep in the bedroom with his family at night and thinks that is great. He likes to be on your lap but is not demanding of cuddle time. His energy level is medium high and he enjoys playtime, a walk, or run. He likes to play hard with other dogs in the outdoor kennels. He loves to survey his domain on top of the couch. He has visited the Humane Society office and did well with some other pups and the office cats. He also met some new people and did fine. He is not a big eater, has great big brown eyes, likes to lay in the sun on a deck, and just wants a forever home!. We think he is about 1-2 years old, was matted when found, so has a summer cut. He will need some grooming from time to time to keep his coat looking great. He is a bit mischievious so will need regular exercise and/or walks. If you have the time for this great little guy, please fill out an application. He was neutered on 6/16/15. He should be ready for adoption by 6/29/15. He is current on all of his first shots, is heartworm negative, and had flea and tick prevention. He weighs around 15 lbs.and will remain a small dog.His adoption donation will be $125 to cover his vet care. Thank you for your interest in our rescues!

Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.
It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.
The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.
All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified.
We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.
If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.
We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.
We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
