Meet Roxy

Roxy is a sweet mother dog that was turned into the shelter when she was pregnant. She was moved into foster care where she delivered 8 puppies within 24 hours. All of her puppies were adopted and she was spayed. We believe she is a Rottweiler mix that weighs approx. 60lbs. The dogs in her foster home are large and Roxy does well with them. Roxy has been socialized in a foster family with young children and other dogs as well as working hard on learning all types of commands including jumping through a hula hoop. Her foster family reports that she learns commands easily. She is house trained and kennel trained. Roxy has visited the Humane Society office, did well on a leash, and was very well behaved. She did well with the office cats and other small dogs that were visiting. Roxy has also attended an adult obedience class and did fine. She sits, lays down, and several other obedience lessons on command. She accepted treats with a gentle mouth. She is current on all of her shots, is on flea and heart worm preventative, microchipped, and is in good health.
Roxy is about 3 years old and is smart. She will use her nose to find treats in pockets or little bits of food that may have slipped behind a chair! We think she will do best in a home where she can be inside with her family but also have a fenced in yard with room to enjoy the outside.
Her adoption fee will be $125 to help with her vet care. If you have the love and time to give Roxy a forever home, please fill out an application at forthepets.org or email Humanesociety@murray-ky.net. Thank you for your interest in Roxy!

Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.
It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.
The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.
All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified.
We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.
If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.
We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.
We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
