Meet Marley! Marley is a 3 year old, 16lb Shih Tzu mix who was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him. He's a cuddle bug who loves to shadow you around the house or yard. He'll push his nose under your hand to remind you when it is Time To Pet The Dog, and he loves belly rubs and snuggling on the sofa. He's a great TV or reading buddy.

Marley loves to go on car rides and walks-- despite his short little legs he'll keep up with you with no problem, and he'd enjoy at least a small fenced yard to zoom around in for a few minutes every day. He is calm in the house and great in his crate. He'll sleep quietly in it all night, or if you prefer he will cuddle up with you instead.

Marley is fine with other dogs if they're around his size, but when it comes to actually living with them, he'd probably prefer to be an only pet. He's also not a fan of cats.

Marley's biggest challenge is that he has a very low tolerance for people he's not comfortable with invading his personal space, and he will snap at them if they ignore his "that's too close!" signals. He's also slow to warm up to new people, especially men. For this reason his ideal household would be adults only and quiet, with not too many new folks coming and going.

Marley is a very bright little dog and a fast learner. He's not a match for everyone, but for an owner who is good at reading dog body language, and prepared to work with a trainer to give him the structure he needs, he will be a fantastic, funny, affectionate companion. He's currently responding well to a Nothing In Life Is Free (NILIF) program, and he is loving learning new things with the clicker. He'd be fantastic at basic agility or in a tricks or scentwork class.
