Hooper: Adopted! German Shepherd Dog & Hound Mix Kansas City, KS

6/6/2014: Hooper is a very friendly and sweet Shepherd/Hound mix puppy. He is 4 months old. He loves people and is fun and silly. He gets along well with most dogs, but he is a little bossy! We've especially seen this when it involves toys -- Hooper thinks all the toys are his and doesn't see the need to share with the other dogs. While this is not a major issue now, it is a behavior that needs to be nipped in the bud while he's still young so that it doesn't escalate into a bigger issue. We'd like to place Hooper with someone who's had dog experience and who will take him to classes and work with him. We've not seen any possessive issues with kids or adults, but to be safe we'd only feel comfortable placing him in an experienced home if there are children in the family.

Hooper has a medium energy level for a pup his age. He can be somewhat vocal so probably wouldn't be a good choice for an apartment type of setting. If you have a dog, you can make an appointment to bring your dog in to meet Hooper to make sure they get along well.

Hooper will be a large dog when fully grown, probably 60 lbs or so. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He was sick with parvo virus when he came to us so had to be hospitalized. He's fully recovered now and ready for his new home. HIs previous family could not afford to care for him. He needs a little work, but he's a fun pup with lots of personality!

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge.
