Beetle Domestic Short Hair Maple Ridge, BC

Beetle and her sister Firefly were 5 month old, feral kittens when they arrived at Katie’s Place and were small for their age.  They would not tolerate touching and would hiss, scratch and bite when approached. They went straight into foster care so they could be nurtured and learn how to be house kittens. Neither of these girls are cuddly but they will now tolerate being picked up. They do enjoy being petted, just down on the floor where they feel comfortable and surprisingly they both love tummy scratches as well as chin scratches.  At their foster home, they started out in a very large bathroom so they wouldn’t get lost in the large house.  We’re telling you this so you’ll understand why they will curl up in the sink, roll around in a wet bathtub or use your toothbrush :)  Typical kittens!
Beetle is a lot more shy than her sister Firefly and will need a very special home with a very patient person. She has no bad habits, doesn’t mess things up, doesn’t climb on things.  She is very happy to sit back and watch the world go by and is more than happy to watch as her sister falls into things. Beetle’s favourite spots are window ledges, sitting at the top of the stairs or resting on the very top of a cat tree.  She will play with her foster mom for 15 second spurts when she forgets herself but she has a great time playing with Firefly.
Beetle still hisses from time to time. Mostly she’s saying “you just scared me’ because her foster mom did something close to her too quickly or someone’s voice was too loud.  She is not aggressive though - doesn’t try to bite or scratch even when her nails are being clipped.  She is basically a sweet, gentle, shy girl who will come over for pats, scratches and will rub against your leg when she feels secure.
