Bergerac Horse Standardbred Clay, NY

Bergerac arrived at Sunshine horses after retiring from a successful racing career. In August 2022 he was chosen to represent the Standardbred breed at the New York State Fair World of Horses. Showing off his prominent roman nose and calm personality, he became very popular with the fair crowd.

Since then Berg has learned many new things. He has furthered his ground training. He obediently will follow you in the arena around interesting objects(balls, cones, and barrels), while occasionally searching for something edible in your pocket. He is very willing to lunge in both directions and is attentive to voice commands. He is quiet on cross ties for grooming and tacking.

Bergerac stands for mounting. He is very responsive to leg cues at the walk and trot. He maneuvers easily between cones and over poles. This horse is willing and eager to please and ready for the next step in his training. Bergerac is ready to find his special someone.

(Berg has a unique “roman nose” of which he was named after Cyrano de Bergerac and quote about a 17th-century cadet serving in the French Army. He was a brash, strong willed man of many talents who felt no woman could ever love him because of his enormous nose. Fortunately, this confident boy does not suffer from the same apprehensions!)


To adopt a horse from Sunshine, requested donations range from $600-$2,500 depending on the horse. Horses are not adopted outside of a 300 mile radius.
