Meet Miriam

Miriam originally came to us in early 2019 as an owner surrender. We were told she was a failed LDG. She and her sister, still big puppies at the time, were too young and playful to work. We placed her in a home where she grew into the role of a guardian, however, and she's now great with chickens. She back at the rescue because she demonstrated dominant behavior toward the older and submissive male dog in that home and was lunging on leash toward other dogs and outsiders to the family.

She will thrive with Pyr-or guardian-experienced owners who are comfortable correcting her and enforcing good dog manners. She's a confident girl who thinks highly of herself, and that's a wonderful thing in a working dog, but she will need clear boundaries and direction.

Miriam is two years old. She is spayed, heart worm negative, and fully vaccinated.

She could be an only dog. but she would love to join a family with a canine sibling -- particularly a male her size who can hold his own with a strong-willed female dog. She is not a good match for a family with a senior or sickly dog.

Like all Pyrs, Miriam needs a solid and securely fenced yard. We think she would do best in a home that's more rural and without the stimulation and traffic of a typical suburban neighborhood.

Those interested in adopting a Pyr should read our policies and fill out an application to meet the Pyrs at carolinapyrrescue.com.
