Hi there, my name is Zeke (fka Charles)!! I’m two years old and looking for my forever home. It’s been a long road to meet you, but I hope you can give me a chance. After being brought to the rescue at only a few months old I’ve been adopted and returned twice. I’m a pretty big boy, coming in between 60-70 lbs, and my puppy energy has been intimidating. For the last year I’ve been with my foster family and going through a strict training regime and have made incredible progress. I’ve learned boundaries, patience, and that jumping is a big no-no. I’ll need a strong owner that can continue to set and enforce boundaries, but my foster family thinks I’m in great shape to finally head to my forever home.
With all that said, let’s get to the good stuff. Even though I’m a big boy, I’m a lap dog at heart. After breakfast in the morning I enjoy sitting on my foster mom while she has her morning coffee. I end most nights cuddling with my foster dad after he fell asleep binging 10 episodes of a netflix show. I love love LOVE going on walks, and I hope that my forever home will too. My parents say that I’m the best dog they’ve ever had when it comes to walking etiquette, as long as you don’t mind a couple of sniff breaks.
I am a very smart boy. I love my puzzle toys and haven’t found a single one that I can’t figure out. I could find the needle in the haystack, if the needle was a treat! I am 100% crate trained and do well sleeping without a peep. I go in without debate and treat it as my safe space. I have mastered many obedience commands such as: sit, stay, down, shake, gentle, leave it, and up. If you’re up for it, I think I’d be really really good at obstacle courses too!
I am great with cats, smaller dogs, and larger females. After coming back to rescue with scars from a resident male dog I’m still going through some trust issues. It’s something we are actively working on with my trainer and foster brother, but for now I would like to stick to my strengths.
(ps. After being given the name Zeke by my first adopter we’ve tried to keep it for consistency. All of my vet records from the rescue will have the name Charles)
