Meet Woody Harris
Woody is an amazing, sweet guy who is friendly with every person he meets. He gives kisses, cuddles, and will be your very best friend the second he meets you. Woody is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. He truly has a remarkable personality despite the horrors he has had to face in his life.
In July 2023, Woody was rescued as part of a cruelty case, having been starved almost completely to death.
Woody was only 12 lbs when we rescued him from the shelter. It took a few months, but he is 25 lbs now. His fur was so badly matted that he had to be put under sedation and shaved to the skin.
You could see absolutely every single bone in his body...
Every single one. The vet was surprised he could even stand.
Due to the severe matting around his eyes, he suffered untreated ulcers until he went completely blind. His eyes bloodshot and no longer viable, as soon as he gained enough weight to sustain anesthesia, he underwent enucleation surgery to remove both of his painful, infected eyes.
Due to severe untreated dental disease, he had to have nearly all of his teeth removed in 2 separate, very complicated dental surgeries. He's left with very little teeth in his mouth now.
He is officially ready for adoption now. He's come such a long way. We are so proud of the progress he's made and of his amazing foster family for investing the time, effort, and unconditional love into getting him good as new again.
Woody deserves the entire world after what humans did to him. Our love for Woody is substantial and plays a part in finding the best home for him. We are committed to finding him the most perfect home that we possibly can, ensuring the next chapter of his life will be the best he's ever had.
We would love to find him a home experienced with cocker spaniels. A grooming reference is required.
If you've been touched by Woody's story and think you would be the most perfect home for him to live out his days, please fill out an application below. We are located in New Orleans, Louisiana.
