Meet Whiskey

HI! I’m Whiskey, a vibrant little pup who can’t wait to meet you. I have so much love to give my new family and am looking for someone to help me feel secure, who can keep up with me. Could you be that person?

Whiskey is a 2 ½ year old cattle dog mix who is looking for her new best friend. Whiskey wants to be with her person as much as possible and is anxious in new situations, but not destructive. Like many working dogs, Whiskey has almost boundless energy and needs lots of exercise and stimulation. Whiskey would be a great agility dog, as she can easily jump a 4 ft. fence. Thus, ideally she will need a home with a strong, 6 foot fence that isn’t easily scaled. She would also make a great running buddy as long as she can be on leash, as Whiskey has a strong prey-drive. Because of this, she should not be in a house with cats, small dogs or other small animals. Since squirrels and other pesky litter critters are just so tempting, she will need to be on leash when outside of her own yard to keep her from wandering and getting into trouble.

Whiskey hasn’t had the best introduction to other dogs and can react negatively if not properly introduced and supervised. She would love to be your only pet so she can get all the attention she deserves, but may also do well with an older, larger dog that can help show her the ropes. Whiskey loves her foster parents' other foster dog – a 95+ pound Mastiff mix who is calm and laid-back.

Whiskey loves to show her people affection and will jump into any open lap. Whiskey is a strong dog and given her dexterity, she would be better in a house without any small children that she might jump on. Given her need for lots of exercise, Whiskey would be best in a house with space and a yard and is likely not a good fit in most apartments or other small spaces.

Whiskey is a very smart pup, who is a problem solver. She needs someone willing to help her channel her curiosity and energy in positive ways. Her foster parents are working with her to refine her manners and help reduce her anxiety, but Whiskey will need someone who is patient and willing to continue to work with her on some basic training. This little bundle of energy has endless potential for the right person. Her foster parents think she would do best in an active home with someone who is willing to provide her with all the exercise and mental stimulation she needs.
