**NEW NOTES & VIDEOS**

Vernon ACCT-A--161251 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Vernon must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER OR RESCUE PARTNER by Wednesday May 1st at 10 A.M. Should Vernon's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Vernon is a 4 year old male dog who came to ACCT PHilly with his doggy friend when his owner suddenly moved out of state leaving the dogs behind. He was described as being housebroken, high energy, and friendly. Vernon is a sweet gentle soul who has been a bit nervous during his stay, and unfortunately has also caught a doggy cold which has made him even more sad. He's a big old baby who is house-trained and had good dog meets in the shelter. He would love to go home with you today!

4/28 Per Volunteer- Calmly standing in front of his kennel. Easy to leash & exited the shelter calmly in a mild trot mode. We went onto the covered run & Vernon sniffed many things and calmly reacted to the highway traffic and racing car noise. He did not bark or whimper yet his head was up sniffing the air while his ears were relaxed. Tossed a few toys & Vernon showed no interest. He did jump up and pursue my treat pouch as I sat on the bench w/polite sniffing. Vernon took treats very nicely several times. He eventually increased his focus on me, my treats and engaged me more overall. We attempted to take a walk, but Vernon preferred to sniff. He was calm as we walked through the kennels and returned to his own kennel on his own & without issue. What a good boy!

4/20 Vernon was curled up on his bed when I walked by his kennel. I noticed that he hadn't been out with a volunteer in 4 days so I was happy to get him out for a long walk! He's a big boi and pulled on his leash initially but definitely lost steam after awhile. In the run, he showed me that he knows sit and got the zoomies after he relieved himself! He didn't show much interest in toys but had a great time sniffing all the smells. He didn't engage with me very much but hopefully he will open up to us with some more time and a gentle, patient approach.

4/5 Could not check in. Very scared. When you walk near he starts getting tense and backing away. big whale eye's. I can tell he is very nervous. Starts to lip lick. keeps backing away into the corner of the room. Staring down staff. Does not like his face or ears to be touched.

When Vernon was first evaluated by medical staff he was found to be suffering from an ear infection and was found to have old puncture wounds on his face. His ears were flushed and cleaned and he was given clindamycin and carprofen.

On 4/12 it was determined that Vernon has contracted an upper respiratory infection and he was prescribed doxycycline.
