Meet Turkey

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Turkey, 9 months old, neutered male, pitbull/longhorn/bat mix, 30 pounds. Turkey is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up!

Loving Turkey is no fowl - he's a goofy, fun jive bird with the best ears in the State of Texas. This young man is sweet as the day is long, cuddly and affectionate. His only fault thus far? He's not a fan of the feline species.

Turkey's foster has put in the hard work and has ensured he is potty, crate and leash trained but adopters should expect some potential regression with the change in his routine and structure. He could use additional training on the leash but overall does well.

He is easy-going and laidback, and doesn't have too much "puppy energy," although you will always find him down for a good romp in the back yard. He is still growing so the ideal home would be a moderately active one allowing him walks, sniff hikes, play dates or doggy day care adventures to work out his energy.

Turkey has been around kids (loves them!) and other dogs (large, small, older and younger). While Turkey has been around kids without any issue, we would typically suggest homes with kids over the age of 10yrs or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues.

Structure and routine go long ways in establishing good house manners. Training can be self-taught or through the use of professional resources. Turkey's ideal home would be one that understands there is a lot of learning for a young dog and is willing to be patient through the process.

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
