Tostado - Fostered in Omaha Rat Terrier & Chihuahua Mix Shawnee Mission, KS

Meet Tostado who came into rescue 1/4/24 and is part of the Tortilla Terrier Group! He will be a smaller size dog. He was born on 8/23/23.

Tostado, is light-footed, light-hearted, playful, alert, inquisitive, joyful, sassy. He is the first to wake you up in the morning, ready for a new day. Interestingly, he has a quiet side too. In the evening, he will sprawl across your lap. If you pet him or talk pretty to him, he glows. He loves people and getting lots of snuggles, kisses and playtime. He plays tug and wrestles with the other dogs and loves toys and especially good bones to chew on.

Tostado can be startled easily and will hide or find someone to protect him when scared. If a new person enters, he will bark to alert and until he understands what's going on. If a new dog enters, he will test by barking and running at it. With adequate petting, he understands that everything is cool, and he settles down. He is an enthusiastic player with other dogs. But he is not a "hyper" dog. You may see many zoomies and many doggie smiles when he is in the mood to play. Otherwise, he will watch you and wait patiently to be petted. He has not been exposed to cats yet. He gets along fine with children.

He is about 15 lbs and won't get much bigger. He sees himself as bigger and is fine with any sized dog. He loves the back yard, likes joining in the paw patrol of the perimeter. But unlike a beagle, he is not persuading the squirrels to come any closer.

Tostado is learning to walk on a leash, just strutting next to his person. He is fine in his kennel but it is not his favorite place. He prefers to sleep on the bed. He is working on potty training, so will need continued guidance on this.
