Meet Susie
"Hey there friends!
My given name was Suerte (pronounced Swear-tay) and I'm a gorgeous honey lab mix pup! If you don't speak Spanish, my name meant "Lucky", and I'm hoping to get lucky enough to find my forever home soon! Since it's been hard for people to pronounce, I'm now being called Susie. I think I like this new name.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in Mexico and was found by my current owners as a tiny pup. I was tied up on a short chain, starving and scared, and covered in fleas and ticks (we shared a puppy pic so you can see). But I got rescued and was brought home with my owners. My owners were great and they got me all healthy and fit, but sadly me and my sister(dog) got into some arguments. That is why I would prefer to be an only dog in a family. I am now in a foster home and am behaving amazing. They say that I am more nervous around dogs than I am aggressive.
I'm a big fan of going on walks, and I promise to make every day an adventure with you! I am also very good on a leash, which my foster family appreciates. I love to be outside and play with tennis balls. I try to ply fetch, but my humans say I need to work on bringing the ball back. I'm generally pretty laid-back and love to spend my days lounging on the couch, following my humans around, or trying to get some pets. I'm fully potty-trained and will always let you know when I need to go out.
I know basic commands like "sit", "stay", "look at me", "go to your bed", "uh uh" and "no". I'm not much of a chewer or destroyer of toys and furniture. However, I do have some fears and anxieties due to my past experiences. For example, I get nervous around the hose or when people are casting fishing poles, because they remind me of my scary past.
Overall, I'm the sweetest girl you'll ever meet, and I'm looking for a forever home where I can be the only pet. I promise to be your loyal companion and bring joy into your life. Although I've had a rough past, I'm hoping for a bright and cheery future with a kind and patient family."
