Rescued white boxer-bulldog STAR needs a new home. Since having her puppies, being spayed, and moving she does NOT get along with my male dog. And it’s a stressful unsafe environment for her and everyone in the home.
She is 4 to 5 years old & only 35 lbs. She LOVES affection from people, as well as our other female dogs (2) & her babies of course.
She is potty trained & is very loyal. She knows "stay/wait", "come", "sit", and "catch." She can catch any treats tossed near her snout. It's amazing!! She LOVES bananas & blueberries. She loves a warm blanket from the dryer to wiggle her head into. And those lick pads (you fill with peanut butter, wet dog food, yogurt etc). and freeze before.
She would be happy sitting on the couch resting her head on one's lap watching tv, looking out a window, reading all day. She lives for that! She requires minimal exercise 20 min walk a day, mostly getting some good sniffs in.
She does well going potty in a securely fenced in yard. She also likes to lay on the deck watching for birds, bugs, & squirrels..she also will go potty on a leash in grass..& if it’s too cold for her paws in the winter she goes potty in the garage on our grass mat. She only experienced two snowfalls.
She is great on walks without our other dogs accompanying her, as long as she is properly leashed/harnessed, & we do not pass other dogs closely (or head on) {I mean who really likes a stranger approaching them?!}
She is all around the PERFECT dog, except for the fact she is scared/aggressive w/ my male dog & they hurt each other, even with the baby gate as a barrier.
She is fine with kids who are not chasing her, as she accepted snuggles with my friend's 3-year-old at our house, in doggy room & kennel. In addition, she was fine sitting near 6 mo old baby in a carrier. (I had my friend's daughter avoid her at first, letting Star sniff and get acclimated. And reminded the child to only give treats with a flat hand, and to approach slowly. Eventually, daughter was "reading" to STAR and snuggling her).
STAR doesn’t like the vacuum/mop, so I put her in kennel or dog room when I clean floors. She’s anxious in car, so she takes anxiety tablets if we need to drive.
In her future home she is preferably the ONLY DOG & spoiled, or nurturing young pups temporarily. NO MALE DOGS.
She’d adore a part-time working parent, work-from-home parent, &/or retirees! As she is a LOVE-BUG who will gaze at you with love all day.
She is vaccinated, spayed, chipped etc.
Oh yeah, and her name is STAR because at night she will howl "woot! woot! woot!" at the moon and stars.
Star is currently living outside of Chicago. Her current dog mom is willing to transport Star to her new home within a 5=6 hour range of Chicago.
