Meet Sparrow

Sparrow is a 1-year-old shepherd mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. She has been at the shelter since February 7, 2024, and is ready for her new home.

Sparrow went out on the streets of Bakersfield, a foster for a day program. Here are her notes:

"This is Sparrow (#A1196593)?? Sparrow is an energetic, loving, and playful pup who is so full of life? We enjoyed our day stopping by Starbucks for a pup cup and a sandwich before heading to Petco for a comfy harness and bone ? At the park we encountered other dogs who she was very playful and friendly with. We also went on several runs ?????, as she is so spunky and full of energy! After a long day of fun, Sparrow simply enjoy snoozing in the back of the car with her blanket? Sparrow would be absolutely perfect with a family who has kids or even an individual who is willing to give her the time energy she deserves ??? please give this sweet girl"

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs, The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks.
