Meet Sora
Sora is a 7 year old 10 lb mostly blind Pomeranian looking for a home ?
Located in Metairie, LA
Sora is an adorable little guy that has been with us for a few months. He was originally found as a stray, skinny and covered in fleas. He wouldn't open his eyes, he just kept them shut at all times. We realized he was blind and his eyes were very painful.
After months of aggressive treatment, unfortunately one of them just never healed right so we made the tough decision to have it removed. He doesn't even miss it at all and has been doing absolutely amazing since his surgery. He is finally ready for adoption.
Although he is mostly blind out of the remaining eye, its amazing how good he can get around. His cataract only takes up a portion of his eyes, so he has some peripheral vision and is a master at mapping out his environment. He can see shadows and he can see you standing in front of him, but he still relies on you to guide him.
Sora is a friendly little guy who likes to hang out on the couch, take naps, play with toys, and go for walks. He is easy to care for and doesn't mind being brushed and groomed. He can be vocal at times, enjoying a good bark with the other dogs. While he can be quite independent, he does love to cuddle, give kisses, and roll around on his back expecting belly rubs. He lights up when he hears a squeaky toy and loves to involve you in his playful antics, tossing the toy in your direction in anticipation that you will toss it back to him.
Sora walks well on a leash and is easy to house train. He gets along great with other dogs, cats, and even kids. No small toddlers, just because he is blind and fragile.
Sora's ideal home would be someone close to New Orleans, Louisiana. He gets pretty bad car anxiety since all of his surgeries so we want to limit the drive time when he goes to his new home. His adaptive personality makes him a great fit for both a calm household such as an elderly couple, and a medium activity level household maybe with older kids who want a dog to play with and cuddle on the couch and watch movies.
He is neutered, heartworm negative, and had a dental recently. We do require proof of current/previous pet ownership, vet records and a grooming reference.
