Simba will pull at your heartstrings! He's been in a foster home since 2022 just waiting for the perfect person to find him!

Unfortunately Simba was recently diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that causes sporadic episodes (5 episodes since June 2023) of disorientation and discomfort for a 6-10 hr interval. Until recently, Simba's episodes have been managed with crate rest but he will be starting medication soon. While medication can't solve the problem, it will hopefully make him more comfortable.
It makes us so sad to know that something he has no control over could ruin his chances of finding a good home. Especially when 90% of the time he's one of the happiest dogs who loves his people so much.
If you can find it in your heart to give this sweet boy a chance he will be your best friend!

Simba needs slow introductions to any new people and takes a while to warm up to strangers. He would do best in a home without kids since they can make him nervous. While he does have a few dog friends he would do best in a home without other pets.

"Simba is the best boy! He is housetrained and cratetrained, and so well-behaved! He will sleep all day long in your bed or will nap in his crate if you prefer. He is super smart and knows allll the tricks: he knows ‘sit', ‘shake', ‘lay down', ‘roll over', ‘off/down', and we're working on ‘touch' & more leash commands such as ‘back' (releasing tension and coming back to me)! When I first met him, he was very shy but quickly got better and better at meeting new people. He has totally come out of his shell and is so cuddly. He is always content to sit on my bed and watch outside through the window!

Simba is not a picky guy- he loves treats and will do anything for some spray cheese! ? He gets the cutest zoomies but is very careful even during his zoomies and never knocks things over. He is super mindful of things in the house (like if his ball gets stuck in furniture he won't incessantly go for it, he just waits for your help).

Some of his current favorite things are:
·Almost any food ?
·Watching out the window ?
·Tug of war ?
·Chasing squirrels and birds ?
·Snuggling ?
·Chewing bones or chew toys ?
·Flowing water ?
·Finding sticks ?

Simba is pretty nervous around kids and would do best in a home with no children (or older kids/teens). He's also a bit shy around strangers, but has become much quicker to trust new people (especially when a treat is involved ?). He may be good with respectful dogs after SLOW introductions- he has a best friend who is a black lab and also loves going on walks with his dog-friend Georgia! However, an only-dog home may be his dream come true.
Simba is an incredibly loyal pup. Even when off-leash, he is constantly checking in with you and doesn't stray far from your side. This guy deserves someone who will love him as much as he loves them back!"

Nobody is perfect, so Simba needs an adopter who will love him for who he is!
