Meet SIENNA

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This girl has both beauty and brains.SIENNA was found as a stray but never claimed. She was at a Pound and scheduled to be euthanized for no other reason than they had to make room for more dogs that needed to come in. We rescued her as she deserved a second chance at life and we could see what a great she was and we're so glad we did too as she's just the sweetest happy-go-lucky girl around. She's spayed, vaccinated including rabies and microchipped. She was very stressed in the Pound and lost approximately 7kgs in body weight. When she first went into her foster home she had a poor appetite but it didn't take long for her to begin enjoying her meals and gradually put on some weight. If you are looking for a wonderful, loyal, smart, fun and funny girl then this is the one for you and your family.
SIENNA is housetrained as well as crate trained and sleeps quietly in it all night. She's a smart girl, takes direction well and wants to please. She knows quite a few commands including sit, stay and shake-a-paw. She loves being in the vehicle and she travels well. A fenced in yard would be ideal for her as she loves to run around with toys and seems to especially like squeaky ones.
SIENNA loves to go on walks and walks great on her leash. She rarely pulls and when she does it's usually when she knows she's approaching home. She does take note of other dogs and squirrels across the way and she's told "keep going" and she does just that. She has been doing some off leash playing fetch in a local fenced in park and she's been doing well with her recall and staying close. She would love to be part of a family that's as active as she is and who will take her on walks, hikes and adventures. The family needs to have experience with big dogs and preferably Shepherd experience as well.
SIENNA is in a foster home with another female and at first the resident dog was cautious of her but it didn't take long for her to warm up to her and they now play and chase squirrels in the yard together. They've just started to play chase together too and interact more. We are recommending children in the home be aged 10 and up and be dog savvy due to her size and possibly knocking them over. As far as we know she's never met a cat so a very slow, careful introduction should be done if there's one in the home and it would strongly be recommend to keep her leash on as she meets a cat. A dog savvy cat would probably be the best fit too.
SIENNA's foster family has stated she's just been the best foster ever. She's loving, affectionate and loves to be around people. She can get quite excited when she meets new people so calm introductions are best and her leash should be used to remind her not to jump up. It would be recommended to keep her leash on in the home for at least the first two weeks she's in her new home as well.
SIENNA did join another family that had a female Shepherd and at first they got along very well and had a lot of fun together. However after a couple of weeks things didn't go as smoothly and she came back into the rescue. More on this will be discussed in the phone interview.
If SIENNA sounds like she'd fit into your life then please fill out the adoption application to meet her.
