Shimmer Beagle Knoxville, TN

Sweet adoptable Shimmer has spent a couple months in foster with Savannah, James and crew learning to dog. She has made great strides. We know a home change will set her back a bit but in the right home with other friendly dogs, understanding and love this girl will rebound and continue to grow. Are you that home? Near Knoxville TN preferably?

“Here’s some things we’ve learned about Shimmer that might be important for her future adopters:

We are trying to learn more about Shimmer everyday! She’s definitely made herself comfortable in our house now! She’s not quite to the “love me love me” phase, but she isn’t hesitant to jump into bed with us or on the couch. She does come when called and 1000000% crate trained. Goes in for breakfast and dinner with no problems. Goes in when told to.

James sister is coming into town tomorrow so we will get to see how she does with strangers. She’s gotten use to our family as regular visitors now.

~must have doggy siblings! We think she might do good with even hyper dogs. She has been introduced to Merlin (our hyperactive doggie cousin) and she loves being with him! Gets along with small and large dogs.
~matches the vibe. She can be rowdy and she can be chill. She mimics the other dogs around.
~very sensitive about her feet being touched. Toenail clippings are out of the question without 2 people helping.
~not so bad to bath but she is kinda timid about the whole process. Loves to roll in the towels!
~loves toys!!! She will rip stuffing out of one every once and awhile. She loves the “playology” rubber brand toys. Definitely needs some durable toys that aren’t easy to rip. She loves to nibble the fuzz off them.
~unsure about bones. We give all of them a frozen treat bone about every week. She likes them but prefers to have hers in her crate.
~blankets only in her crates. If she gets too bored then she will chew them up. But this is not a regular problem.
~digs… we are very sure this is due to her living under a shed as a pup. She will dig shallow holes every once in a blue moon.
~ironically, she is not much of an escape artist. She does not dart out the door and comes when called. (Not trustworthy off lead and her new family will need to win her interest)
~still wants to sniff and be around us, but not so much touched. She will let me pet her when she’s comfortable but not if she’s up and about.
~sleeps on the bed and in the crate. She has gotten to the point that she will “make her bed” beside my legs or hip area. She usually will sleep in her crate after we cut the TV off.
~minimal accidents. We’ve had her close to 2 months and there have been very minimal accidents. She holds it from 7 to 5 when we work in the office. Other wise she goes out about every 3 hours with no problems. Or we spend the day outside when it’s nice.
~doesn’t always want to finish her food. But loves a good treat! She’s not very protective over her food.
~probably thinks her name is “Shim Shim” now. That is my fault…

Overall, she is a very spunky and happy girl. I believe that as long as she stays in a home that will make her happy then she will continue to have good manners and behavior. It is so important for her to have as many siblings as possible! Our dogs have grown to love her so much and she has easily meshed into our family. We are looking forward to her finding her forever home ??”
