Shadow German Shepherd Dog Chicago, IL

Shadow came to GSR as an owner surrender from Chicago Animal Control. The volunteers there saw she was such a good girl and needed a home right away, so they contacted us and she came into one of our foster homes.

Shadow clearly was a really good girl at her last house, and her parents must have been sad to give her away. She is up to date on vaccines, heart-worm negative, recently spayed, and has clearly been loved.

She knows the house rules and is perfectly potty trained. Shadow can hold it for hours! Foster mom was away for 9 hours one day, and Shadow held it the whole time.

Shadow is good with other dogs as long as you introduce them properly. Shadow has a new foster sister who came in after Shadow had been in her foster home a week. It took a day for them to accommodate, but now they are best pals and play.

Shadow is about 5 years old. She's in perfect condition and is a gorgeous example of a black and tan shepherd. She loves children. Shadow does pull when a squirrel crosses her path, so she may have some prey drive for smaller animals, but hasn’t been tested.

Once shadow learns that your home is her new home, she will be a bit protective. She barks when people come to the door, and she barks if dogs come on to her yard. Overall, she is a very good girl!
