Meet seamus

Before you say, "oh my god, he is so cute, honey, come look at this dog! " There are things you must know about Seamus. He is huge, and very strong. He is horrendous on a leash and only an extremely strong and fit person could hope to walk/leash train him. He ended up in a euthanasia shelter, his previous owner spoiled him rotten didn't train him, he got bigger and bigger and then his person died. As the undertakers were taking Seamus's dad away, animal control was taking Seamus away. yes, the same day. Imagine poor Seamus's confusion, he cried for weeks, he lost weight. and mostly refused the water. My contact at animal services did her best to direct me away from him because she said " he's going to be a pain" So now he is rescued. In rescuing him it was understood that he was the kind of dog that because he is so beautiful he would be passed from place to place and not have a happy life, if he had any life at all, and he is sensitive, So, he is not a normal dog. He is opinionated, he will not drink water if another dog has had their face in it, he wants his water kept cold, a pitcher in the fridge, freshened often, with the bowl rinsed each time, he does like to see some ice as well, when possible. He must sleep in bed with his person. He is pretty good about waiting for you to get in and arranged before he takes "his half" If he is on the sofa he wants more than one pillow. He needs his face wiped off often as he drools. He needs someone who is stable, strict, but unendingly kind. His good points are that he does not chew things up that aren't his, and he has never had an accident in the house. He also likes to sleep in, not nag you out of bed first thing, he would rather cuddle. He makes a huge fuss over anyone new, but settles pretty quickly, not a candidate if you live w your 80 year old grandmother etc.
Seamus loves to play chase games w his person, a ball w a long rope on it is his favorite. But he cannot have toys like that in rescue as he gets too possessive of them. He is exuberant about his meals. He must have 2 small meals a day, one late in the evening. He is trained to sit and down and wait for his bowl to be placed on the floor and to wait until he gets the OK to eat. He likes only dry kibble no water in it. he can learn, but the price is that he copiously drools while he waits. His person must live in a relatively quiet area, he is not used to car noises, he loses his mind when the grass cutters come. His perfect home is someone who is home a lot, who is fit and enjoys a challenge, who doesn't have other pets, and who will dote on this very lovable dog, even with all his bad habits. You must also be a stable homeowner w a fenced yard and previous history of owning a dog and taking appropriate care of that dog. call audrey 484-844-0374 some of his idiosyncrasies would be solved by being the only dog. We are looking not just " to adopt out this dog" but to find just the right match for him. Someone who will love him and be happy with him, opinions and all. He is neutered w ablation, microchipped, ( we register the chip for you as well ) heart worm negative, and on monthly preventative, wormed and has his shots and rabies vaccine.
