Saul Maltese & Chihuahua Mix Fort Wayne, IN

Meet Saul, He is believed to be a Maltese poodle chihuahua x Estimated to be 5/6 years of age.Age is a guesstimate. Life has never been good for Saul and it shows. He does have pep in his step. So some feel he may be younger.

Saul is sweet, easy gentle, clingy, and loves to relax. He adapts easily, has learned to play, and enjoys the quality of life. Not a morning dog at all. Loves to nap. He's lazy if it's a choice. Saul loves car rides, daily walks, and playgroups with other gentle happy dogs alike. He loves outings and outdoor adventures. He's just a happy simple dogs that deserves a life if joy. Saul is also amazing with cats and seems to enjoy their company.

Saul didn't always look this great or cared for much less healthy. He lived his whole life with a hoarder. When rescued he had terrible skin infection, loss of fur, and scarred skin from years of flea infestation causing skin infection and severe dermatitis.
It was horrific.

Today he's healthy happy and well-adjusted coming into his personality. He loves all humans as he's enjoying the pampered life. Yes, he has quirks but nothing that can't be accommodating. Saul loves fresh cold water. He's set on having a routine for meals pottying and fresh water is a must. Fresh come water. He only will take soft treats. He's still playful and prefers a buddy that can accommodate his play style. He loves attention and affection from everyone.

Something to know. Saul was born mostly blind. He has visited a specialist at VCA and test results determined a genetic birth defect. He can see some but all he sees is unknown. One thing is for sure he gets around just fine. He adapts to new surrounding layouts easily and change doesn't affect him.
This all he's known so to him ihss adapted to life.

Saul needs a fence in the yard, a human who's home mostly or can bro g him to work with with be best. Best no young children. He can be an only dog with human companionship. Or can easily share his space with other dogs who will respect boundaries. Condo and apartment housing is acceptable. He's not much of a barker as long as he's not stressed. He does require grooming every few months depending on his cut but daily brushing is prolongs his grooming. He's not a barky dog. He's learned a quiet indoor voice. Every day is amazing to him. Every day is another good day. Everyday he enjoys his outings and lives meeting new folks. He's just wonderful.

Suggested Donation Adoption fee minimum $450

Saul is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies,  dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption,  and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.

Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter.

Previous adopters of AHR have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again. Donation of their choice is welcomed.

Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must.

Saul is being fostered at AHRs due to his need for medical when rescued. He is now in a foster home. Saul is a chihuahua rescue indy dog we are helping by fostering.
