Sarge’s wish is to have a home of his very own for the holidays. This boy is literally the perfect dog. He has excellent manners both on leash and off leash. Sarge’s recall is second to none. He can be chasing a chipmunk and mid-stride will stop in his tracks, turn around and come when called. Sarge is well behaved and well trained. He waits to be invited on to the furniture and is quite content to lay on the floor beside you, or at your feet. Sarge knows, sit, stay, go, come, down, and roll over. He takes treats very gently, and gives kisses on command. Sarge only wants to be your best friend and will adapt to your routine with no complaints. If you like to be outdoors, Sarge will be right by your side. If you want to go for a walk, Sarge will walk with you. If you want to do some gardening, Sarge will keep you company. If you want to take a dip in the pool, Sarge will lay poolside and keep a watchful eye. If you prefer to be indoors, Sarge is fine with that too. He will sit patiently in the kitchen, while you cook dinner. He will lay at your feet, while you read a book, or drink your favorite beverage. If invited, he will snuggle with you on the couch while you binge watch your favorite TV show. Sarge is just looking for companionship and will do whatever you are in the mood for, just to be with you. If you are an early riser, Sarge will get up with you. If you like to sleep in, Sarge will sleep in. He is content to sleep on the floor, in a doggie bed, or in your bed with you. He is a first rate snuggler, and will not hog the bed. Sarge is very eager to please.

Yes, he is an older guy, but Sarge has a lot of life left and a lot of love to give. He has a beautiful soft coat and all of his teeth. Sarge had a teeth cleaning recently, and his bloodwork looks great. He is 114lbs. He does have some beginning arthritis in one leg, but otherwise he is in excellent health. Sarge likes other nice dogs, but large dominant dogs intimidate him. He is very sweet and gentle and likes kids. Sarge loves to go for car rides, but does not enjoy going to new places or meeting new people. He is a bit of an introvert and likes to keep his circle small. Despite that, Sarge behaves perfectly at the vet and at the groomer.

Sarge does have some separation anxiety, which is completely understandable. After seven years in a home, Sarge was dumped at the shelter and left to die. Sarge’s ideal home would be with someone who works from home or is retired, OR one with a nice, mellow canine companion to keep him company while his human is not at home. Sarge does prefer women, but with time and patience comes to love and trust men too.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
