Guess who’s earned their stripes in ball catching, car rides and cuddler extraordinaire? This handsome and happy fellow has been earning merit performance points and has moved up in rank in ARF’s army of adoptables. Introducing ARF’s new Sergeant also known as Sarge!

Sarge is great at overseeing all the joys of being a dog including playing catch, toys, and off leash romps in safe and secure areas. He is full of life, love and exuberance and is learning to channel this energy appropriately with consistency and lots of positive reinforcement. Sarge is a very smart and food motivated dog and is looking for an active adopter who will commit to his ongoing training. Although Sarge takes his position of Sergeant very seriously, he admits is still a bit of a goofball with lots of puppy like behaviours.

Sarge enjoys the company of other canine recruits who match his play style. He requires slow and proper introductions and is learning to share toys and resources. Sarge would do best if he sets up camp as the only pet and is looking for a home base without other resident dogs or cats. He has lots of love to share so older dog savvy human siblings would be a great addition!

Sarge gets overexcited on leash when seeing new dogs and is learning to focus on his humans. “Boot camp” or in in other words working with an ARF approved positive reinforcement trainer will continue to help him focus. Sarge enjoys training sessions as yummy treats and praise make it fun and rewarding!

Sarge has already earned his badge when it comes to crate and house training. He settles well in his crate with adequate exercise and lots of mental stimulation. Sarge LOVES human attention so he’s hoping to recruit an adopter who will not leave him alone for long periods of time and is willing to share a good snuggle on the couch. Belly rubs would be a welcomed bonus!

Sarge has has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, and micro-chipped. He’s at attention and ready to salute his new family!
