Fall in love with Sammy Joe! Our boy Sammy is believed to be a Boston Terrier/Boxer mix, but there are likely other breeds in his background as well. He is just about 1 year old and weighs 35 pounds, and is more or less full grown. He is short and stocky and isn't much taller than his Chihuahua foster brother, as shown in the photos for comparison. His foster mom describes him as "an awkward teenager who will keep you laughing." Sammy Joe was picked up on the side of the road after likely being dumped by his last "owner." After some time searching, no one claimed him. Fortunately, he found himself a loving foster home to get the tender, love and care that all animals deserve.
Sammy Joe is good with other dogs and loves to play with toys. He does have an odd habit that he collects all of this toys and hoards them in a pile behind the armchair in his foster home, but hey it's better than all over the house! Sammy is a young and active boy and as such his ideal home will be filled with walks, playtime and a big backyard to run.
Sammy is smart boy who is eager to learn and please. His new adopters should plan to continue basic obedience training which will include manners about jumping. He will also need continued leash training as he does pull. Sammy would love a home with kids who will play with him, but older children are preferred since he is still learning how to control his awkward self.
Sammy Joe is just about housetrained with very few accidents at this point. As with any new rescue dog, adopters should plan for continued housetraining, especially in the transition period.
Sammy Joe is already neutered up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and microchipped.
Adoptions in CT, NY, NJ, RI, VT, NH, ME, PA, - NOT MASSACHUSETTS, due to canine quarantine restrictions.
