Meet Saint
Saint's journey to us began with a desperate call from a shelter – his owner adamantly refused to reschedule his surrender appointment to a time when the shelter had more space, fully aware that Saint would face euthanasia as a consequence. Oblivious to his immediate danger and embracing attention from staff, Saint sought out hugs and kisses. Tugging at the heartstrings of the shelter staff, they swiftly notified New Hope.
Saint may be an adult, but his playful innocence and spirit shines through as he prances around with his toys, including a teeny tiny stuffed unicorn which seems to be his favorite. He has formed fast friendships with other dogs in his foster home, including a female lab and a bossy chihuahua, enjoying lively romps in the yard and spirited games of tug of war and stealing each other's toys. Despite his playful antics, Saint always takes a moment to check in on the supervising human, offering a sweet hug and some reassuring kisses.
Saint is a model citizen when it comes to his crate, willingly settling in without any fuss for a peaceful night's sleep. During the day, he spends time in his crate while his foster mom works, enjoying structured play breaks and potty with his canine pals. He also loves chewies like bully sticks and is very treat motivated.
We are thankful that Saint has embraced his new chapter so gracefully, even though he's blissfully unaware of the neglect he's endured. Fortunately, his issues are treatable, albeit requiring some time and patience.
Upon arrival, Saint was underweight and battling an unmanaged ear infection. Additionally, his tendency to consume excess water indicates past struggles to access hydration, a common issue we see in neglected dogs. We're also addressing his heartworm disease, a preventable yet potentially deadly condition. With proper care and treatment, we're committed to ensuring Saint receives the love and support he needs to thrive so he can spread his sunshine to an adopter someday soon.
Available to Foster: Due to Saint’s Heartworm Treatment he is currently available to foster and, in some cases, foster to adopt.
If you are interested in foster or foster to adopt, please go to https://nhanimalrescue.org/dogadoptapp/ and fill out the application.
