Meet Rosie
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.
Rosie is a 3 year old cattledog mix from Kentucky. She was an owner surrender who has surrendered other animals in the past.
Rosie loves to be wherever you are. She loves belly rubs & pets & will hold/grab your hand to let you know she wants more belly rubs or pets. She needs occasional reminders to be easy as she can be handsy if you stop giving her pets.
Rosie does well with the small dogs in her foster home, but needs an occasional reminder to play easy. She is good about reading her foster siblings body language when they don’t want to play. She also plays well with dogs her own size and energy level where she can enjoy playing rougher than with the small dogs
She sleeps in her crate through the night and spends time in there during the day with the door open. If you chose not to crate her while gone; please ensure no human food is left out in the counters. She likes to counter surf in search of food.
She has been working with her foster parents & a trainer & has gotten down loose leash walking. Although she does well overall on the leash, she is reactive to cars which her foster parents have been working on with her. Rosie has made leaps & bounds with her neighborhood walking but it is still a work in progress. Rosie has done well with a slip lead with a figure 8 loop as it helps to curb her anxiety related to cars.
Her foster parents have taken her to the Pinebush and Adirondacks to hike which she loves. Rosie loves going on walks with her foster family but prefers walking in parks or on trails with limited or no car traffic. She loves sniffing & exploring new areas on walks.
She loves squeak toys & chewing on bones. She has mastered sit, place, down, & drop it. She is still working on other basic commands. However she is a quick learner & is highly food motivated.
If you’re looking for a medium energy dog, who will always be excited to see you, and will love to be your adventure companion, Rosie is the pup to meet. She will be a great addition to anyone’s furry family.
We are presently not holding our regular Saturday adoption clinics due to the Covid-19 virus. We are operating on a limited basis until further notice, but we are still adopting dogs out. We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $350. Dogs over 2 years old are $250. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
