2/4/24-Rosa is healing nicely from her spay. She stays very close to me outside and occasionally trys to explore a little bit on her own. She is ready to find her furever family!

2/2/24-Rosa is not looking too pleased with us after her spay yesterday. LOL The vet said that everything went very well and that her uterus was very large from having so many litters. Rosa paces quite a bit in a kennel, most likely from how she had to live for all of her life. Her favorite spot though is on your lap! Rosa is hoping to find someone to love her. She is now ready for her furever home!

1/19/24-Rosa's hair is growing back nicely but she is very afraid of the brush and the comb. I will be introducing grooming at a slow pace to desensitize her. She is still slow to warm up to new people and new noises also startle her. She loves approaching our cats in a slow stalking position until they run and she chases after them. Rosa just wants to play with them, though, she does not harm the cats. It is more of a game for her. Rosa has a stuffed duck that she joyfully tosses into the air. She and Miss Poppy Fields (shihtzu) love to chase each other around the house. Rosa loves to sit in your lap and snuggle with you. This sweet girl will be ready to go cuddle with you soon!

1/5/24-Rosa is making herself right at home. She has started to play with toys. Rosa and my dog Miss Poppy Fields are starting to play together and to now share the toys. Rosa was interested in climbing the stairs but decided against it at this time! Lol She will be available for adoption after her spay which is scheduled for the first week of February.

12/28/23-Rosa’s pre spay appointment went well today. Dr did not say anything about the degree of luxating patella but she was not concerned about it & said that it was not unusual. She mentioned that she had some tarter build up on her teeth that will need to be addressed by whoever adopts her. Rosa was okay with being on a leash but will need more work on walking while on a leash. She introduced herself to a dog and her owner and visited with them for a bit. Due to vet backups her spay is not scheduled until Thursday February 1st but she is on the cancellation list in case an earlier date becomes available. Once she is spayed Rosa will be able to go to her new home.

12/27/23-Rosa spent the first 3 years of her life in a puppy mill & is learning about life. She arrived on December 21st in a very nervous condition and just paced around her kennel in circles. She still does not like her kennel and will pace back and forth. She gets along great with my cats and my other dogs. She trys to get them interested in playing but they are not interested. Rosa is very affectionate and loves to snuggle. Her favorite spot is my husband’s lap! She has a lot of nervous energy but it has been decreasing little by little as each day goes by. She is getting there slowly each day. Just letting her progress at her own pace. She has a pre spay appointment tomorrow & hopefully her spay soon after.

12/21/23-Rosa Bonica is a snuggly 3 year old female bichon frise. She was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they just got done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. She is very nervous right now but seems very gentle and sweet & loves to snuggle. She was recently shaved so she’s not as beautiful as we know she will be once her hair grows in. She does have a luxating patella (like a trick knee) in her left rear leg. Rosa’s pre-spay appointment is next week on Thursday 12/28 & we will get her spay date asap after that. More updates soon from her foster home.
