Romeo is an energetic, 15lb, a 2-year-old mutt with likely Frenchie and chihuahua ancestry (and based on his love of feet and talkativeness, maybe some corgi, too!). He is as adorable as he is exuberant. At 15 pounds Romeo is able to indulge his charming cuddly streak on a lap but don't be fooled as he is a very athletic young dog and does best when well-exercised - he can easily complete a hilly five-mile hike in the morning, a 45-minute neighborhood walk in the evening, and still be ready for training and treats in the backyard at night. Romeo is a high-investment, high-reward adoptee with a lot of love to give who needs an owner committed to helping him mature his strong, charming little personality into a courteous and reliable family member. Romeo is a curious and fast learner who has responded well to obedience training during his five weeks in foster (as of Dec 7, 2020). Prospective parents should know and be prepared to help Romeo with food- and toy-related resource guarding behaviors that can and have escalated to lunging and biting (band-aids only, but a serious issue that needs attention). For this reason in particular Romeo would do best in a home without other little ones to "compete" with. He is housebroken, and while interested in other dogs is not reactive to other dogs, on or off-leash.

Obedience:
- Come/sit/stay (consistent indoors, inconsistent in distracting environments)
- Speak/hush (consistent on speak, working on hush)
- Loose leash walking (consistent in known environments; "come on back" works well as a reminder to stop pulling, reset, and go slower)
- Leave it (training stymied by reactivity to closed hands with food nearby)
- Thank you (for picking up or taking away a valued item - steady progress over four weeks, with lunges diminishing to infrequent)
Temperament:
- Curious, busy, affectionate, bossy, hilarious, cuddly
- Signature Move: Flopping on his back and gesturing wildly for tummy pets.
- People: Initially reactive to tall men, but then warms up to them.
- Dogs: Interested, but not reactive on or off-leash
- Body sensitivity: After initial trust-building, loves being petted and relaxes when being held. Working on shake for minor paw sensitivity.
Housetrained: Yes
