Meet Rocky BMD

Born December 4, 2019, Rocky has had quite a life journey in those 3 years, that thankfully landed him with Mattie's Place.

He was vaccinated with Rabies and DAPPV in March 2022 all as 3 year vaccines and neutered in April 2022.

Where his previous owners gave him basic medical care, they failed him in other ways. Throughout his medical records he's noted as being a behavioural dog (highly reactive and sometimes aggressive - reactive to touch/snapping/vocalizing) .

He does not have a bite history

Instead of addressing the behaviour concern, they sedated him for most of his life with Trazodone. They're veterinarian suggested behaviour medication medication, but they preferred to just sedate.

It's also noted since he was a puppy that he had "thick" knees. It's also noted in his records that his front legs are bowed and the angle indicates deformity. His previous owners opted to not explore this further.

Looking at Rocky, his back legs are much taller than his front legs, so he has a lot of body weight resting on his front limbs. He doesn't however indicate any pain, discomfort or mobility concern. He has seen a Board Certified surgeon who agrees Rocky does not need surgical intervention but will benefit from glucosamine, fish oils and similar supplements, needs to keep his weight lean and way down the road may potentially need oral pain meds on his bad days.
