Meet Rocket
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.
Rocket is a male Spaniel/Collie mix around 35 lbs, estimated to be between 4-8 years old. He was found as a stray. He is very affectionate, house trained and crate trained. He is a quick learner and has a reliable "sit," "down," and "wait." He’s currently mastering “heel!” He can be nervous in new settings but usually quickly overcomes that as soon as he knows treats are available.
Rocket will wag his tail at any attention he receives. When he gets excited, he does little tippy-taps with his front legs. He's very food-motivated, often performing a hopping dance all the way to his food bowl at meal time. He is comfortable in his crate for several hours and enjoys snuggling on the couch when his foster family is home.
He loves going outside for walks and would enjoy having a fenced-in yard to explore. He can be selective with the dogs he encounters (especially other males), so he would be best as an only dog. Rocket has an intermittent limp after overuse – x-rays showed arthritis in his front left elbow and mild hip dysplasia. He’s doing great with palliative care (pain management & joint supplements), and it doesn’t slow him down in the slightest! His adopters will need to continue his care and make sure he doesn’t overdo it.
Adopting Rocket would mean adding the sweetest, happiest companion to your family, and there will be no shortage of laughter and smiles. Apply today!
We are presently not holding our regular Saturday adoption clinics due to the Covid-19 virus. We are operating on a limited basis until further notice, but we are still adopting dogs out. We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $350. Dogs over 2 years old are $250. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
